The friendships formed while hauling and showing horses are something special. You spend long days together at barns and arenas, cheer for each other when a run goes well, and show up again when it doesn’t. The women who share that life understand the work behind every moment in the show pen. They tell you the truth, celebrate your wins, and stand beside you through the harder days. That kind of friendship is where Frank & Rio began.

Meet Angie and Amy

We met years ago at the same training barn, where our horses were stabled. Our friendship grew as we traveled and showed cutting horses together. We knew what it felt like to spend a full day preparing, riding, waiting, and helping one another. We also knew how much the right shirt mattered when you wanted to feel comfortable in the saddle and polished when it was your turn to ride.

When it came time to name our venture, Amy suggested the barn names of the horses who had brought us together. Angie agreed: Frank & Rio felt exactly right. The name reminds us of the horses, the miles, and the friendship at the heart of this brand.

Why we make western shirts

Our experience in the cutting horse world shaped what we wanted from a women’s western shirt. It needed to look sharp without asking a rider to sit still. It needed room to reach forward, sleeves that kept their length when holding the reins, and a shirttail that stayed tucked through a long day. And it needed a front that helped prevent the gaping so many women have learned to work around.

Those practical details still guide our designs. Frank & Rio shirts are tailored for women, with strategically placed buttons, longer sleeves and shirttails, and collars that hold their shape. We choose fabrics for different ways of wearing them, from the structure of our Core and OG collections to the stretch and lightweight feel of Cool Ride. Our shirts are handcrafted in Texas with the idea that a woman should be able to move, ride, and feel like herself.

You don’t have to show a horse to wear Frank & Rio. We love seeing these shirts at rodeos, at dinner, at work, and anywhere a woman wants a little western character in her day. The same thoughtful fit that serves a rider can make a shirt a pleasure to wear beyond the arena.
